What the verdicts mean

UPSAMPLED means the measurement contradicts the label: the file is stored at a high sample rate, but the audio inside carries the fingerprint of a lower-rate source — a resampler's cliff, a spectral hole, synthetic dither where recorded noise should be, or 16 bits of audio padded into a 24-bit container.

NOT FLAGGED is not the same as proven genuine. It means nothing in this file contradicts its label. A source rate is only ever named when the measured ceiling lands within 0.6 kHz of a standard rate; anything else stays unnamed rather than guessed.

Bandwidth verdicts need 88.2 kHz or better — a 44.1 or 48 kHz file honestly stopping at its own Nyquist is the format working, not a fake. The bit-depth test needs a 24-bit file. DSF files run the DSD bowl test instead: native DSD carries music and noise straight through the 18–45 kHz region, while a PCM-sourced conversion dips to a minimum below 24.5 kHz.
